At the root of my work lies a passion for collaborative
thinking. Strong ideas
are never conceived in a vacuum, but are best realized when
we partner together to uncover the most effective ways to meet
your business goals.
Once a strategy is developed you can rest
assured that I possess the skills, expertise and reputation to create strong, effective solutions from conception
to completion. |
 |
I offer a broad range of services including
brand identity and logo
design, web site design
and print design. From
the tactile brochure, to the dynamic interactive web site, down
to the solid first impression your logo makes as you hand a
client your card, I work with you to ensure that all of these
touch-points deliver a strong, consistent and engaging message.
Your message. |

D. ANDERSON { logo ·
business card · letterhead }
 |
 |
 |
 |
framework
· When a fresh-out-of-college music graduate
decided to begin teaching professionally, she recognized
the benefit of positioning herself as a reputable and
successful piano instructor among her more seasoned competition.
I worked with her to develop a distinguished, captivating
identity that embodies her fun yet sophisticated personality
and teaching style. |

1000 GENERATIONS {
logo · business card · letterhead · press kit
}
 |
 |
 |
 |
framework
· As a complete unknown breaking out into
a saturated market,
1000 Generations needed a solid but inexpensive identity
with supporting materials.
Working together within an extremely limited budget we
were able to develop business cards, press kits, flyers
and other materials that could be printed in gray scale
on an as-needed basis. A rubber stamp of the logo was
used to customize the press kit folders which resulted
in considerable savings on printing costs. |

1000 GENERATIONS
{ web site }
 |
 |
 |
 |
framework
· 1000 Generations realized the need to
launch a web site to coincide with the release of their
debut album, Prayers.
The primary functions of the web site allow visitors to
obtain lyrics, biographies, tour schedules and sign the
mailing list. The aesthetics reflect the artwork of the
album establishing a recognizable identity for the band.
I recently developed a new site for 1000 Generations to
promote their latest album, To
Those Who Cry. It can be viewed at: www.1000generations.com |

ESCIENT {
multimedia }
 |
 |
 |
 |
framework
· Escient is a pioneer in the development
of high-tech home-entertainment devices hidden behind
intuitive usability.
Planet 10 in Indianapolis was hired to develop signage
and display peripherals for Escient's 2001 trade show
system. While working for Planet 10, I produced this trailer
to support those materials. Visual themes of sight, touch,
and sound were reflected throughout the trailer. This
piece set the tone for subsequent video demonstrations
and simultaneously introduced Escient's Products
for the Human Interface tag line. |

INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY
{ corporate, undergraduate, and athletics
web sites }
 |
 |
 |
 |
framework
· Indiana Wesleyan University's online presence
was fragmented and inconsistent. The architecture of the
web site made it difficult for the majority of IWU's vast
target audience to find the information they desired.
My task over the past four years has been to integrate
IWU's scattered micro sites while developing graphical
and typographical standards for current and future additions.
As a result of this initiative IWU now has an engaging,
user-centric interface that drives each unique visitor
to the information they seek.

IDYLWYLD ROLLER PALACE
{ web site }
 |
 |
 |
 |
framework
· Idyl Wyld Roller Palace has been serving
central Indiana for nearly 70 years, but technology has
changed slightly since 1937.
A web site provides an easy way to promote upcoming events
while providing weekly rink schedules and rates for their
skaters. The aesthetic sensibilities of the site reflect
the nostalgic neon signs that illuminate the walls of
the rink without looking stale and out of touch. |

1000 GENERATIONS
{ album design & promotionals
}
 |
 |
 |
 |
framework
· Launching a debut album was no easy task,
especially as an independent band. 1000 Generations recognized
that the majority of their listeners were unfamiliar with
their music and so the album had to sell itself solely
on visual appeal.
Drawing primarily on their music for inspiration, I developed
cover art with strong organic connections to the tracks
on the album, as well as multiple touch-points for the
listeners. The result was a unified statement, expressed
through song and image that, although new, felt familiar
and close-to-heart. |

ANDERSON WEDDING {
invitations }
 |
 |
 |
 |
framework
· The Andersons were planning a hand crafted
wedding and wanted the wedding invitations to set the
tone for their big day.
Using childhood photographs and letterpress-like typography,
I was able to achieve the charming and nostalgic motif
the couple desired. The invitations were further complimented
by hand-sandblasted, glass favors featuring the same type
ornament used throughout their invitations and wedding
programs. |

INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY
{ adult & professional studies
brochure series }
 |
 |
 |
 |
framework
· After initiating their Dare
to Dream series of TV and radio advertisements,
IWU's College of Adult and Professional Studies needed
to send the message home with a variety of print collateral.
The goal of the campaign was to communicate a strong reputation
of academic excellence without being cold and impersonal.
Using high-touch photography and testimonials, I brought
to life what were previously static information-based
brochures. IWU's innovative adult education programs combine
quality and professionalism with a personal touch. Now
their marketing materials do the same. |

SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS
{ promotional & program
}
 |
 |
 |
 |
framework
· Indiana Wesleyan University's theater
department was throwing a western spin on the old classic
Seven Brides for Seven
Brothers. Their only request was that the promotionals
convey a western yet elegant feel.
Alluding to the style of an old "wanted" poster,
I created a hand-printed look using woodblock type and
distressed textures. This concept helped rope in a big
crowd for the theater department, and even inspired some
yellow-bellied art lovers to swipe the posters right off
the wall. |

ERIK ANDERSON {
designer & handiworker }
 |
 |
 |
 |
I design for both print and web and I’m proficient
in many of the corresponding duties pertaining to these
media. I've art directed entire campaigns from conception
to completion, and I’ve also rolled up my sleeves
to assemble the mock-ups. I’ve produced effective
solutions enlisting anything from a mere black and white
laser printer to the off-set press using four-color process,
spot varnishes, Ultra-violet coating, and perfect binding.
My interactive media skills are two-fold. I’ve spent
the past four years designing
and developing web sites for corporate clients
like Indiana
Wesleyan University as well as independents like 1000
Generations.
As a web designer
I’ve had many experiences creating look and feel,
information architecture, navigation, and animation. As
a web developer
I’ve brought those designs to life using tools like
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Flash ActionScript 2.0. When
the back-end programming requirements have been beyond
my reach, I’ve comfortably consulted with programming
engineers.
Designing web sites from a developer's vantage point has
Gestalt effects on the final product. By employing this
strategy, a web site can seamlessly transition from a
static Photoshop layout to a dynamic user experience in
very little time. The web sites I produce look good, but
they also implement valuable methods like search engine
optimization and user activity tracking.
Of course no successful solution is ever realized without
a solid concept, and stronger
solutions are typically borne out of teamwork.
Thinking conceptually in a collaborative environment is
where my greatest passions reside. I firmly believe that
giving and taking constructive criticism greatly enhances the creative process. |
